John Edward is an internationally acclaimed psychic medium who has practised his art for over 25 years now. He became more widely known in the USA when he was invited to participate in two internationally syndicated tv shows, Crossing Over With John Edward and John Edward Cross Country.
What does a psychic medium do?
I have never attending a group psychic session (although I hope to see John Edward when he is in Wichita soon in March of this year – just booked my ticket!) but was amazed by the accuracy, warm-hearted insights and great sense of humor that he bought to all the readings I saw on the TV shows. I enjoyed them so much I watched many of them several times (a DVR is a wonderful thing).
In John Edward’s case, he connects with the energy of loved ones that have passed over and helps to validate the connection by listing information only the recipient or recipients of the reading could possibly know/validate about the person. People find this very comforting when they are going through the process of grief and loss and often feel very healed from having a reading, which is one of the primary reasons people go to see a psychic medium.
Extreme accuracy
I think what I admire most about John’s work is the time, effort, consistency and discipline he has put into interpreting the ‘energy language’ of those who have passed over. He has built up almost a library of personal symbols and approaches to be able to validate the presence of loved ones who have passed over in extremely accurate ways.
The example that has stuck with me the most was the start of one reading where he was gagging and looking unwell. He then asked the audience ‘This is going to sound weird but did anyone swallow a fish for a dare – like a goldfish?’ John himself said at the reading that he hates the tastes of fish and this was the reason for gagging. A big tall guy put his hand hand up and admitted that he had swallowed a goldfish once for a dare. And so the reading began. Now that just blew me away.

The Infinite Quest book – what surprised me about it
I bought this book because I admire John’s work and I wanted to learn more about his techniques and approaches. Plus, I am having an increasing number of ‘energetic’ experiences and am looking for answers from more experienced practitioners. Also, last year my mother and one of my best friends passed over within a few weeks of each other and a number of ‘happenings’ occurred which made me think differently about death and the afterlife.
What really surprised me about this book is how much psychic mediumship is all about energy. I heard John Edward saying this when I watched the readings on tv, but reading the book really brought it home in a big way. He includes some great tools in the book which would work for anyone interested in their own Personal Energy Practice, and makes it very clear that the book is NOT designed for those people who just want to go and ‘do’ psychic mediumship readings. Here are some of the energetic tools I’m finding really interesting and useful.
- Psychic self-defense and energy field clearing
- Working with the principle of Love over Fear
- Ego work
- The concept of ‘smelly energy’ and why some energies make us so uncomfortable!
- Some really good reasons why we need to be in a positive energetic frame and keep away from negative people and negative energies.
- Explanation and recommended use of some great metaphysical tools, such as astrology, tarot and numerology.
The Tarot – I always got stuck!
I have used tarot cards a lot for personal meditation purposes, but always got stuck trying to remember all the meanings without having a book handy. John lists a great method in this book to enable us to intuit the cards, remember our own meanings, and then work with more universal interpretations also. What a great resource.
