Using our imaginal forces like Edgar Cayce | The power of creativity and our imaginations as a Personal Energy Practice

Imaginal ForcesImaginal Forces – what are they?

Imaginal Forces are those abilities we have to naturally visualize, hear and sense energetic phenomena internally (in our minds and bodies, without external stimuli).

So we might imagine a future scenario, remember the words and notes to a song or breathe the scent of fresh mown grass from our childhood.

Imaginal Forces and Creative Visualization are one and the same thing IMHO

Simply imagining positive experiences with different sensory inputs – that’s what some people call ‘visualization techniques’.

I’ve met quite a few people on courses who define themselves as ‘not being good at visualization’ when it comes to working with exercises of this nature.

Honestly I believe everyone can develop their imaginal forces with a little bit of focused thought – I think too many people expect the experience to be like it is in the movies, with majorly powerful flashing lights, sound and motion.

Fact is, the movies are structured like that to pull you in, give your brain a low grade adrenaline buzz with all the changing images and flickering lights – and make you watch the movie!

Using your Imaginal Forces is a lot gentler than that, a lot more simple and IMHO at the end of the day a lot more rewarding.

The quote ‘Using Our Imaginal Forces’ comes from Edgar Cayce, known as The Sleeping Prophet

Imaginal ForcesEdgar Cayce in many of his readings suggested that people employ their imaginal forces in order to learn how to have a richer and more rewarding spiritual life.

The more we learn to review our experiences internally, the deeper the meanings we can attribute to them, and any lessons learned will be more powerful and more insightful.

Some simple ways to employ our Imaginal Forces in our Personal Energy Practice

Here are some simple ways to start activating your Imaginal Forces

  • imagine what your front door looks like
  • see if you can remember and sing (in private if preferred!) all the words to a favorite song
  • remember a favorite toy, smell or sensation from your childhood – one where you felt safe and secure, and practice magnifying the feelings

Once you have started to work more actively with your Imaginal Forces…then it may be time to start working with moving the energy around the body, listening for inner guidance or asking for inspiration from visions.

Now you’re stepping into your Personal Energy Practice

Edgar Cayce founded the ARE (Association of Research and Enlightenment).  Who was the Sleeping Prophet?  More information here.
